Ouch, you got me! I'm the one with the Sox cap in your photo! I thought that might have been you nearby, but I was affraid to ask. I will say hi for sure next time. Overall show was great - super weatehr and a nice sekection of warbirds. That was my first time seeing the full Tora act and I was impressed - though a bit deaf from the bomb blasts! Couldn't believe the B-2 gave 3 passes - super treat for such a small show. Parking really wasn't a problem for me, hopefully others had good luck as well. Show was definitely more structured than last year, and I would say they probably had at least double the attendance from last year. Here's a few of mine.

Well this was #12 for the year, and it was a good show to close out the season. The 4th "small" non-mil base show I caught this year (5th if you count the Snowbirds in Anderson), and it didn't disappoint. Particularly loved seeing the Invader, the Mitchell, and Tora! Tora! Tora!, as well as the Strikemaster and Delfin jets. Shoot, it was great seeing all the warbirds in the air - a great switch from the jet-heavy base shows (which are always great in their own right). And that Helio Courier demo was impressive too! That thing seemed to just float thru the air and turn on a dime - giving a nickle in change every time. Thought Hugh Oldham did a real fine job behind the mic as well.

Only minor bummers of the day (Sunday) were no mil fly-by, and the C-54 didn't fly either (which apparently it did Saturday from the previous pics?).

All in all a beautiful day, and very much worth the trip up from Columbia. Food prices were about the most reasonable of any show this season, and no notable hassles getting in or leaving either (unlike a few other, albeit much larger, shows this season).

Big kudos and thanks to Hugh and all others involved!

Here's the B-2 for those that missed it.

spirit of washington, looks like.

So Jambro.. that was you who so RUDELY planted yourself in front me on Saturday afternoon!!! smile.gif smile.gif I'm just kidding. You and the dude in front of you at least had the sense to kneel down. You got up after a while and stood next to me actually. No harm done. Besides, I love your pictures. I was going to ask you if you were an ASBer but I'd already asked like three other people and got blank stares.

There was a teenager behind me who walked up and STOOD UP right in front of an old lady behind me. I mean just right in front of her, and he was the same height as the lady. After a few minutes her husband gently pushed him aside and said, "There's room over here for you to stand".

As always Hugh, I enjoyed your narration. IIRC, this is the fourth show of yours I've been to - Florence, Anderson, Winston-Salem, and Monroe. Whew! Big season. I even impressed my wife by nailing a prediction on your reference to your mother-in-law. I said, "... and Rob does that too!"

I noticed that the Tora! Tora! Tora! show didn't have the air raid siren blaring through the whole show like they did last year at Seymour-Johnson. Don't know if they took it out or just didn't have it this time.

Pretty sure they had it going the whole time Sunday - that sound REALLY makes the show, and sends deep chills up my spine...

And Jambro, that shot of the "Zeke" is great!

I apologize for blocking any views - at least I try to make up for it by posting my pictures here for all to enjoy. There were quite a few more people this year - last year there was no real issue in getting to the show line - this year they were people sitting 4 rows deep! If you like that one of the zero, I have other ones that I will post later tonight that are even better - so check back to this site often.

OK, here's a few more from this great little show.

No need to apologize... really... you were polite about it. I love your shots! Maybe next time one of us will say hello to the other. smile.gif

Just to clarify, the preview thread said there were 3 Fw.149s. Actually, there was only 1. The other 2 aircraft with it were Pilatus P-3s. Those 3 guys (there used to be a 3rd P-3 but it was sold) have been going to shows together for YEARS. I remember seeing them together in 2001 at a show in Moore County, NC. Really nice guys. I believe they are based out of Asheboro, NC, separate from the museum there.

There were 3 different Fw 149's (one all green, one green/gray andd 1 desert schemed) there on Saturday, as well as the 2 silver P-3's. One of the 149's flew in formation with the P-3's and the other 2 flew solo during the flying displays. I'll post pics later. As a side note, 2 of the same Fw 149's and the 2 P-3's were at the EAA 309 fly-in at Lincolnton, NC the weekend before and flew in a formation of four.

Here's the Fw 149's from Saturday.
