I have been attending the Miramar Airshow since 2002 and unfortunately many of the years has been cursed with RAIN. I read an article on the net 2 years ago, and it said the organizers of the Miramar airshow was possibly going to move the airshow to the month of August. This move was an effort to gain more fans, ($), and to curve the many complaints about the weather, as well as the cancellation of some performers due to low cloud ceilings. I personaly have always loved the Miramar airshow............ but I must admit the weather has been less than favorable the past few years. has anyone else heard about this........................
Interesting topic. As with every outdoor event, the possibility of rain is a factor. We all plan for it and sometimes shows have to pull the plug. It's something that all the organizers and performers HATE to do. Yet rain at at show site could be a blessing to people just outside the gates.
I don't know this for certain but I believe that this year's Nova Scotia air show at Halifax had to cancel flying on both days of the show. Now THAT'S sad. I've been at 2 shows in the last 60 days where the Blues and Thunderbirds had to cancel because of low ceilings. I hate to be the messenger of those cancellations. I try to explain the safety issues involved - the crowds have been very understanding. But I ramble...
I have no inside information about the Miramar show's 2009 dates but I don't think there's any problem with the FUTURE of the show. Perhaps the thread should have been named, "Future DATES of the Miramar Air Show." Miramar, as far as I can tell (it's my 19th show this year), is a very, very healthy show.
