Sorry for the delay...if anyone heard, almost all of southwest Ohio is without power (unfortunately, Wright State was not).
The show was great, even with only one day of flying. If you ever want to see a great small show, go to Blue Ash. It's always been one of my frequented shows, being so close to my house, but this year was simply outstanding. There was such a great aerobatic lineup, and along with the warbirds (and veterans who flew them!), it was amazing. Even with the cancellation on Sunday, having the chance to walk the flightline and talk with the pilots was great.
On a side note, I rode in the midst of a National Guard convoy on the way into the city, and I was so happy to see so many people along the road waving and cheering as they passed - just one of those small things that makes you proud to be an American!
Jared -
It was a good show on Saturday but Sunday was a bust because of the high winds. That windstorm caused almost 90% of the people of the area to lose power. I've been in Cincinnati (living just 5 minutes from the Blue Ash Airport) for 28 years and I've never seen such wind damage. My son and his family are still without power. I fear it's going to be that way for many days. Duke Energy had sent crews to Houston...they came running back. More crews have come from other states to help and they're working like crazy but with over 500,000 customers STILL without power (as of Tuesday afternoon), it's a monumental task. I can't begin to imagine what things are like in the Houston/Galveston area.
Congratulations must go to Cheryl and Tom Popp. Their tireless efforts in putting together the Blue Ash show have made it a favorite of performers from the Red Barons to Ed Hamill and ALL the performers who have worked here. This year we had Ed Hamill, the Red Eagle Team, Matt Chapman, John Black, a TBM, T-6, and P-51 from the Tri State Warbird Museum - all flown by founder Paul Redlich, the E Team Skydivers and their 5000 square foot American Flag, Brett Hunter, and Cliff Robinson. Great work by all the performers and all the volunteers!
