Well that's an ambition achieved! I've now seen a real bf109 with Daimler engine, and the Canadian Lancaster! The last hour of the show was great, with B17, Avenger, 2 Spits, Hurri and Lanc, and there was a really friendly atmosphere at the show! The Lanc performed some quite aggressive manouevers for such an old and rare aircraft!
My only criticism is that the first half of the show was a little dull (after the 109 and Spit left for Hamilton). The small trainer aircraft flying in this part of the show were a very long way from the crowd line and very widely spaced out. I would have liked to have seen a few more formations - as it was, a lot of the photos are very distant.

Having said that, I enjoyed the day greatly and got quite sunburnt! It was nice to cool down back at the Falls on the Maid of the Mist and in the Journey Under the Falls!

Here are some photos!

Nancy and I had the honor of announcing this show and we're sorry if we bored you at any time. Seriously, even the trainer flights had their moments, with a Tiger Moth in Australian Air Force markings, two of the very few Fleet Finch B16's still airworthy and an even more rare (and beautifully restored) Meyers OTW-60 biplane trainer. Frankly, I hadn't ever heard of that one before.

Of course, seeing the Lancaster making a photo pass at a VERY steep angle and seeing that same plane do what amounted to a missing man pull up while in formation with two Spitfires, a Hurricane and the Bf-109 pretty much made the weekend!

There was also the great hospitality of Fran and Ed Russell and all the fine volunteers from Russell Aviation Group. This "little" show has grown each year and one can only hope they have a bright and long future in the air show world.

Not meant as a real criticism at all - sorry if it came across as that! I really enjoyed the commentary - you did a great job! As I say, I enjoyed the show. It would just have been nicer if some of those rare trainers could have been a little closer together and closer to the crowd. Of course that might just be regulations coming into play and nothing can be done about it.

Once again, everyone involved can be proud of the show that you put on! That final formation was a real highlight of my holiday!
