Made the 4 hour drive from Austin to Abilene, so I could see the B1B perform on Saturday.

The weather was very chilly and with the wind constantly gusting, it made for a rather uncomfortable show (I felt sorry for the vendor I noticed selling snow cones, as I bet they didn't have any takers). It finally sort of warmed up around 2:00 PM or so.

The sunlight was very harsh for most of the day and it was tough for me to get anything in the way of a photograph on this trip that I was very happy with. The speaker system had some major issues for the better part of the show, too. The echoes were horrible (they didn't need to say, "Tora, Tora, Tora" as just saying "Tora" would get it repeated numerous times) and the speaker system seemed to have several connectivity issues, also.

The vendors were very reasonably priced at this show, which was a very pleasant change from most air shows I attend. Bottled water was $1.00 (at the gate as you came in, they were giving free bottled water for each attendee as we entered), large hot dogs were $1.00 and cheeseburgers were $2.50. They had plenty of vendors and the wait for food and drinks were not long. Plenty of Porta-pottys and no waits there, either.

The show was pretty good, also. Noise makers were the B1's, F15 and "Tora, Tora, Tora". Raggz put on a great show as usual, along with a couple of other aerobatic performers, too. I enjoyed the C17 and C130 demonstrations, too. I did feel like we were a bit further back from the flight line than normal, but if I had my way, I'd be standing at the edge of the runway. biggrin.gif

Here's a few shots from yesterday.

All things considered, it would have to be really, really cold for me not to enjoy the B-1B!!
Great photos Bob!
Thanks for posting them.

I'm really not happy with the following photos, but I wanted to share them because there was quite a large contingent of planes participating in the "Tora, Tora, Tora" portion of the show. They really did put on quite the performance, of course, along with the help of the Blastards.

Dyess airshow ROCKED!

We absolutely enjoyed it, and it couldn't have come at a better time... tough week for us at Sheppard. The look in the kids eyes was a welcomed reminder as to what life is all about... hope, passion, and following your dreams no matter where they take you.

Thank you Dyess for inviting us to be part of your show and thank you Abilene for being so gracious to Team Ragged Edge.

You ROCK!

[snip] ....along with the help of the Blastards.

My apologies to the Tora Bomb Squad, as it has been brought to my attention they do the pyro for Tora, Tora, Tora, not the Blastards, as I had previously posted erroneously.
