Look closely at just above the wing. A piece of the aircraft has come off. This was shot near DM a couple of years ago.

Looks like the pilot is looking over that way. Maybe he heard/felt/saw something?!

Going to the local gunnery range on the 21st and hope to get a bunch of video of the A-10s shooting and dropping practice bombs.. Not sure if they will have A10s or F16s that day (hopefully both)

I got out to Warren Grove on 2.27.07. what a great place. it was a very cloudy, overcast day, but all 4 ANG units were there (PA, MD, MA, CT). I'm going to try to get out there again soon a few more times, esp. before MA and CT lose their A-10s due to BRAC. Here's some pics.

Great pics smile.gif talked to Warren Grove today and got the flight list and times and supposed to be a clear day tomorrow..

10:20a A10s
12p-1p C17s
2:20p A10s
3:15p A10s
3:45p F16s

Said there was another set of A10s after the F16s as well.. Not sure what the C17s do there.

Charging up the GL1 now and should have some video posted to the site tomorrow night as long as my computer cooperates smile.gif

I live less than 10 miles from the range so hopefully I will get alot of video practice for the airshows this year smile.gif

Back home from the 10:20 flight.. Got some decent video, was a little lost since it was my first time there in 15 years (even though I live just down the road). A pair of A10s were working with 3 C17s doing simulated combat jumps. After I get back from the afternoon flights I will get all my video together and post it on this site.

Due to the control burn south of the range, they had to move around the schedule so I missed the afternoon set of A10s. But I posted the video of the morning flight here: http://www.airshowbuzz.com/videos/view.php?v=508beb72

I dont have any shots right now but home for me is in Southern Pines, NC, about 5 min from Fort Bragg. The drop zones are about a 10 min drive and sometimes you can catch A-10s buzzing around there. One day they were firing their guns, but in 10 years that was the only time i have seen them doing that. I didnt know there was a range on FT. Bragg at all for the A-10s. Maybe they were beating up the DZ, i dont know. I couldnt get close enough. But after 10 years of having A-10s fly slowly over my house at about 1500ft i would have to say im bored with them. Unless i see a demo, in which case i get to see more than just level flight. I love the demo, and hate that I wont get to see it this year, unless i somehow get to Lumberton. GL to the team this year!!

Some older shots, first two are from Riverside - the stormy looking one is from last year, the sunset from about 2003 or 04. Last one is from the 2006 Heritage Conference.

Thanks Jim. The shooting there is good twelve months out of the year. People there are good to deal with too. And, it's nice being so close.

Cheers,
Dave

Here's some shots from Warthog Day at Forth Smith Regional on April 14, 2007. Warthog Day commemorated the 188th Fighter Wing's transition from the F-16 to the Hog.

Enjoy....................
