Well, this has certainly been a shakey start to the airshow season with some insurmountable losses. My thoughts go out to the Snowbirds and their families... sad.gif

I was thinking the same thing Adrian, my first thought was what the hell is happening, I echo your sentiments. Jim Deveney

ICAS has confirmed that one of the Snowbirds aircraft was involved in a fatal accident this afternoon. As soon as we have details on the cause of this accident and the individual involved, we'll post the information right here on Airshowbuzz. But until then, I'd like to ask that we all avoid speculating or spreading rumors. The friends and family of team members will likely be on this site looking for information. We want to do all that we can to avoid making a tragic situation any worse.

Dismal Start for sure - so the only way to go from here is up. I remember my first airshow at Willow Grove where the f-14 went down and I thought I had something to do with it. But I know now, that the guys flying these planes are oh so well trained and they are doing what they love doing.

My heart goes out to everyone who knew the pilot, the other Snowbirds, and the crew, the family of the pilot and the rest of the industry. We will make the rest of the year brighter! God bless and god speed.

Don't even know what to say... unsure.gif Just that my thoughts and prayers are with the team and his family. He was doing what he loved, and he was a hero to many.

Flight is freedom in its purest form,
To dance with the clouds which follow a storm;

To roll and glide, to wheel and spin,
To feel the joy that swells within;

To leave the earth with its troubles and fly,
And know the warmth of a clear spring sky;

Then back to earth at the end of a day,
Released from the tensions which melted away.

Should my end come while I am in flight,
Whether brightest day or darkest night;

Spare me your pity and shrug off the pain,
Secure in the knowledge that I'd do it again;

For each of us is created to die,
And within me I know,
I was born to fly.

We do not see anything on this thread that could be considered spreading rumors or speculating, only people offering concerns for the pilot and family members. I believe this is done with good intentions and should not be questioned as if it were being done in a reckless manner. I would suggest that if ICAS wants to control the content of a message board that they start their own.

Aerojet49,

With all due respect, this issue was raised when the Blue Angels incident occurred. I don't speak for ASB, but I think that all here don't think this is a good time to air the obvious grievances you have with ICAS. There is nothing more tragic than losing someone involved in flight demonstrations, and what we as people involved in air show circles ask is that nobody jump to any conclusions about anything. It is a simple request, and I'm hoping you'll not nitpick in a thread that deals with a tragic event.

I don't think that he was necessarily saying that there was anything so far. It was just an early request to help prevent speculation in future posts as now is not the time for speculation. It is a time for prayer, rememberance, and grieving.
