ASB Person of the Year
Rob Holland

In this era of light speed information, ASB Member and World Advance Aerobatic Champion Rob Holland, has mastered both while pushing technology in the air and on the Internet.

As a little boy who dreamed of flying upside down, he continually shares that dream with people around the world by using his own website, as well as AirShowBuzz. Holland has skillfully used online videos to take fans into the cockpit, and draw them even closer by energetically engaging with people through his profile and forums on AirShowBuzz.

Holland also innovates in the sky using the latest technology with the high-powered MX2 catapulting it through the air with equally creative combinations of maneuvers that leave fans mesmerized. His dazzling artistry also impressed the judges at the 2008 World Advance Aerobatics earning him title of champion and later the 2008 US National Unlimited Freestyle champion.

For his constant drive for excellence, for pushing the edge of aerobatics while never compromising safety and expertly harnessing the power of technology, we proudly name Rob Holland as the 2008 ASB Person of the Year.

I agree that Rob is a great choice. I had mixed feelings when I first saw Rob, it was at the Sebago Lake airshow in Maine, and he had a photographer who'd gotten too close to his plane by the shirt and was smacking him senseless, but once I got to know him, I figured "the guy probably deserved it", and it's been great to see him at shows ever since.

Congrats Rob, and Happy New Year.

Oh, I was totally kidding about him smacking around a photographer! He's as accommodating a performer as there is. smile.gif
