Do we have any ASB members who are checking this show out? It looks like the U.S. Air Force is well represented. They have a report and some video here:

Hi

I went down on trade day on thursday - difficult weather for photos as it was hazy and I didnt have a lot of time tosort out the best place to stand

Its a big show and I saw one of the best displays I have ever seen by a Super Hornet - It reminded me of the Mig-29 displays in the UK in the early 90s - unbelievable!

The US have got a large input and their Expo exhibition was very good

other than that the static was mostly bus jets and bush planes

over in the distance was the HARS Connie, Neptune and Catalina - but I couldnt get very close as there was an Atlas Air 747 filling itself with F1 cars - so the whole area was out of bounds

Im going back on Sunday to watch the show

Thanks for sharing the Atlas shots... brings back a lot of old memories... I use to do the F1 car runs. You could take over 30 race cars in one jet with them stacked two on top of each other... plus more below. We also would carry the ambulance and track drying trucks. Always fun stops.

I've attached a couple shots of other things Atlas carries too!

Thanks again.

Cheers
Ed

Ed - those mercs look a bit flimsy tied up there!! - thought most cars went by boat! - bet it was a bit smelly after the second lot unloaded!!

Well I went to Avalon on Sunday and we were blessed by great weather.

Highlight for me - as someone who is heavily biased towards Warbirds and Historics! - was the FA 18F Super Hornet - Flown by Ricardo Traven. Fantastic! and back to my fav era - the HARS Connie - which did some wonderful flypasts following the HARS Catalina, 2 C47's and a DC3.

It was my first Aussie airshow and I was pretty well impressed for a big airshow. It certainly had the flavour of a US show rather than an English one! - I must admit to preferring the more focused gatherings - like Legends at DX - but I can?t complain! Although I see a lot of skill in flying the small aerobatic stuff - for me it doesn?t really appeal - they all tend to look the same after a while - the final act with pyros was probably great if you were standing crowd centre but anywhere other and it just doesn?t work. I must stress that this is just my personal taste - the acts seemed very popular with the public which counts for a lot! Well done everyone!

Gday All I really like this website. I wish we had the variety of aircraft in Australia that you have here in the USA. I spent last Sunday at the 2007 Avalon International Airshow held near Melbourne Australia last week. The weather was terrible on Friday ( the 1st public day) with gale force winds and dust storms, Saturday it rained off and on and was chilly but Sunday was a reasonably good day for photography with cloud clearing a little later in the day.
I got some great images, airshow photography is my favourite pastime - love to do it every weekend !
You can see some of the images I captured here: 2007 Avalon Air Show
Thanks everybody

Gday Anthony - thanks.
As far as I know the F111s are based at Amberley - they are still my No 1 fav even though I love the F15 and havent seen a Tomcat here. The only year I missed they also had the B1 bomber - you guys are so lucky with such variety. Thats if you are in the USA. I would love to see a big show in the USA.
Maybe one day.

Peter:

Hello! The -111s are very cool! Last time I saw one at an air show here in the U.S. was in the mid-90s. You're right, we do have a good variety here! Sorry you missed the B-1, hopefully you'll get another chance to see it some other time!

Thanks for visiting my page and for the kind words! As you can tell, I am a big fan of the Tomcat! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

What is the next show you are going to?

Take care, and I'll talk with you later!

Good Morning Anthony - you know we only have 1 major airshow that I know of and that is Avalon every 2 years. I think Amberley, Richmond and Edinburgh (sth Aust ) also have small airshows.
So basically we are pretty much deprived - thats why this site is so good. We can come here anytime and watch great video clips and footage.
Have a great day

Hello, Peter!

I'm sorry; I didn't realize there were that few shows in your neck of the woods. You're right - this is a great site that will hopefully satisfy everybody's need for air show action!

You have a great day as well!

Hi there. This is my first post here... Is this the right forum for this?

I think this might be the right place to'meet' lots of other aviation enthusiests and photographers... The more people to learn off the better!

I spent 5 days at the Australian International Airshow... It was my first big airshow so I just loved it.

All Images shot using Nikon D200 with 80-400mm VR, 18-200 VR or Sigma 10-20mm

What a roller coaster ride of a week... Heat waves, Dust Storms, Rain, Sun, Wind... but worth every minute.

Tin Stix of Dynamite! World aerobatic champions Jurgus Kairys (Sukhoi Su-26) and Jim Leroy (Bulldog Pitts S2S) with pyrotechnics by Rich Gibson.

Jim Leroy cuts perofrms The Ribbon Cut... Notice that he is sideways, using his fuselage as a lift surface, flying under the ribbon, and cutting it with his upper wing. What a looney...

The RAAF Aerobatic Team, The Roulettes in their Pilatus PC-9's

RAAF F/A-18A of the "Green Lions" releases flares as it pulls out of a simulated weapons release.

A classic F-111 trick, the Dump & Burn

The US Navy F/A-18F Super Hornet flown by cheif Boeing Test pilot Ricardo Traven.

Ooops. I have hit the limit of images allowed... Sorry about that. maybe I will wait a day or two till I post some more. Would you like some more or have you had enough already. Sorry if I seem a little over enthusiastic, but I had been waiting for years to get to a real airshow (we dont have many in New Zealand, except for Warbirds over Wanaka, but I have to tour when that is on sad.gif ), and I am quite proud of a these as a first attempt... You feedback would be appreciated.
