Just got done flying the Friday practice with Jewel and Woody (Strike Eagle Demo). I did my demo in the Sabre and Jewel was doing his demo.... until he had a bird strike. I'll leave it for Jewel to tell the story... but there was a big fireball out the back of the jet.... here are a few pics of what was found when they got on the ground. Jewel and Woody did a great job running their EP's and landing safely. Shipley

QUOTE(Corky @ Sep 14 2007, 03:23 PM) Ed, Ah yes, the old "bird down the gullet" maneuver. Never been my favorite way to show off an airplane. Good news that Woody/Jewel managed to get it on the ground without further incident. Another reason to make sure we continue to produce twin-engine tactical jets.......oh wait, except for the JSF!
Good luck up there, friend.
Corky I'm glad to hear the Eagle team was able to recover safely. In regards to single-engine aircraft, I was thinking the same thing. I'm a little weary about the JSF being a single-engine platform, especially for the Navy/Marines, flying over the sea. Did the Strike Eagle demo team send a spare for this show? Hope this doesn't impact the show for all those people attending this weekend. Be safe. Best, Mike.

Ed ... Did anything fly before you flew your demo this morning ? I am currious if the SU-31 made it to the show ? I believe that today was probably the best day to see the flying with the nice breeze and clear sky .. Is supposed to rain alot of the day pretty much tomorow which is the forcast .. Here is a poor pic of the Strike Eagle just off the runway with the emergency crews .. Thanks, Julie! Looking forward to meeting you soon. Jewel, Woody...when I say, "Fly Pretty," not exactly what I mean. Keep up the good work and recruit some good ones this weekend!
